A small-bore rifle powder Alliant recommends for light-bullet loads in the .22 centerfires and for benchrest calibers, plus light-bullet .308 Winchester loads.
A small-bore powder for light bullets in small cases — .222 Remington, varmint-weight .223, .22-250 — and for short-range benchrest, where consistency matters more than case capacity. In .308 it only makes sense behind light bullets. Being fast for a rifle powder is the point: it fills a small case properly instead of leaving the airspace that makes a slower powder erratic there. It is not one of the temperature-stabilised formulations, so a summer prairie dog load deserves a check against a spring workup.

Grain shape
Fine, short extruded grains that meter better than most sticks and settle well in a small case. Its thin web is what makes it fast; the same chemistry drawn with a heavier wall is what gives you the slower powders further down the family.
