Alliant Clay Dot
A clean-burning 12 gauge competition target powder. Alliant positions it as an economical equivalent to Hodgdon Clays.
An economical answer to the fast clay powders, aimed squarely at light 12 gauge target loads and doing nothing else. It burns clean at target pressures and meters predictably through a shotshell bushing. Alliant is explicit that it is shotshell only — do not carry it into metallic cases on the assumption that its burn speed makes it a pistol powder. Like everything at that end of the chart it occupies very little of the hull, so an inattentive session is the main risk it presents.

Grain shape
Fast, thin-web cut flake — minimal wall means the flame is through it almost immediately, giving the early sharp pressure rise a light payload needs and nothing in reserve if the charge is wrong. Flakes settle by volume in a bushing measure, so throw-weight checks matter more here than with a spherical.

Alliant explicitly states Clay Dot is not for use in metallic cartridges - shotshell only. American-made.
