A single-cartridge powder: .50 BMG, long range. Its density and burn rate were engineered around that case and there is no sensible reason to use it anywhere else. Outside the .50 community there is little general handloading experience with it to draw on.

Grain shape
Very long, very thick-web extruded grains — the wall has to last the length of a .50 BMG barrel, which is why it sits at the bottom of the burn chart. Grains this size do not meter through a conventional measure; .50 loaders weigh charges.

Alliant cites superior velocity, cleaner burning with less residue, lot-to-lot consistency, and a density created specifically for the .50 caliber application.
