Economy bulk 12 gauge target powder that matches Red Dot's burn speed, sold in the big jug for people who shoot clays by the case. Ballistically it does what Red Dot does. The trap is physical rather than chemical: it is denser than Red Dot, so the same bushing throws a different weight — carry a Red Dot bushing straight over and you are not loading what you think you are. Check Alliant's bushing chart, confirm on a scale, and it is a genuinely economical way to shoot a lot of targets.

Grain shape
Fast, thin-web cut flake in the Red Dot mould but packed denser, which is exactly why a volumetric measure setting does not carry over between the two. Degressive flake burn: energy early, ideal behind a light payload, no cushion above a correct charge.

Alliant states Promo matches Red Dot's burn speed but is denser, so a smaller measure bushing is needed to throw the same charge. Check Alliant's bushing chart rather than assuming a Red Dot bushing carries over.
