A temperature-stable powder for traditional hunting cartridges, 6.5mm target loads and tactical applications.
A temperature-stable medium-slow powder that lands in the sweet spot for heavy-bullet 6.5 Creedmoor, .270 Winchester and .30-06, and it is energetic for its position — you get magnum-flavoured performance out of standard cases. The TZ chemistry is the entire point: it resists the usual pattern of making more pressure hot and less cold, which is what ruins a hunting zero or a long-range dope card. It carries a proprietary de-coppering additive. Temperature-stable does not mean temperature-proof, so confirm your own lot in the conditions you shoot rather than assuming the load cannot move.

Grain shape
Extruded stick with the web set to land in the mid-slow band; the same extrusion process with a heavier wall is what separates it from RL-15 below and RL-17 above. Sticks meter with more spread than spheres — a long drop tube and a trickle for the last of the charge is the usual answer for precision work.

Uses Alliant's TZ technology, which the company says resists the tendency to make more pressure when hot and less when cold. Contains a proprietary de-coppering additive.

Slightly faster than Reloder 17, and Alliant places it within the IMR 4350 burn-speed band.
