A fast rifle powder for small-caliber varmint loads and short-range benchrest work. Alliant also recommends it for .45-70 and .450 Marlin.
The fastest of the Reloder rifle powders and the one that lives outside the modern precision conversation. Its home is the big straight-wall and lever cartridges — .45-70 Government, .450 Marlin — where a fast rifle powder fills the case and burns out in a short barrel. It also serves light-bullet .223, small-capacity varmint work and the .22 Hornet. It meters well for an extruded powder, which benchrest shooters noticed a long time ago.

Grain shape
Short extruded sticks, short enough to drop through a measure with far less bridging than long-grain powders, and with a thin web that puts it at the fast end of the rifle range. Extruded rifle grains hold their burning surface far more steadily than a flake does, which is why a rifle powder behaves differently from a pistol powder of nominally similar speed.
