IMR 4350
Hodgdon presents IMR 4350 as its first choice for the short magnum family from both Remington and Winchester, and for magnum cartridges loaded with light to medium bullet weights.
The powder that defined the medium-slow class for .270 Winchester and .30-06, and still one of the most useful things you can put behind a light-to-medium bullet in a short magnum. It is forgiving, broadly supported by published data, and it does what it says on the label. Its limits are ordinary: no temperature-stability claim, and with the heaviest bullets in a given case it runs out of room where a slower powder would still be climbing.

Grain shape
Long extruded single-perforated kernels; the neutral tube geometry is what gives it that even, unspiky pressure curve in large cases. Metering is mediocre, and like the rest of the classic IMR sticks it is a weigh-your-charges powder.

Extruded single-base, in production since 1940, made in Canada. Not listed as temperature stable or subsonic-rated.
Burn rate
Medium-to-slow, at the fast end of the magnum rifle range and just faster than IMR Enduron 4451.
