Accurate 1680
Serves both small-capacity rifle cartridges and large-capacity, high-performance handgun cartridges.
A very fast rifle ball that has become the default subsonic .300 Blackout powder, and it earned that honestly: it fills the short case under a deep-seated heavy bullet instead of lying in the bottom of it. It also does real work in .22 Hornet, 7.62x39mm and the Casull-class revolver cases. Where people get into trouble is expecting it to cover supersonic Blackout as well - it does not, and loaders who set out to make one powder do both generally end up buying two.

Grain shape
Spherical and degressive - the burning surface falls away as each grain burns in, so it gives up its gas early and fast, which is what a short barrel and a heavy subsonic bullet want. The ball form drops through a progressive measure without bridging, so those charges stay repeatable.

Hodgdon flags it as an extra-clean-burning powder. Its spherical grain meters well through progressive equipment.
