Hodgdon H1000
A slow-burning magnum powder for overbored cases and for heavy bullets in standard magnums; also popular with long-range match shooters.
The long-range magnum powder. It belongs in overbore cases — 7mm Remington Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, 6mm-284, .257 Weatherby — where you can fill the case to the neck and get a full, consistent burn. Extreme-series stability is why F-class and long-range hunting shooters live on it: the load you developed on a cold morning still prints on a hot afternoon. Put it in a case too small for it and you get poor load density, inconsistent ignition and velocity you could have had from a faster powder.

Grain shape
Long extruded kernels with a thick web — the wall thickness, not the chemistry, is what makes it this slow, and it is the same reason it needs a big case to burn out. Those long sticks bridge in a drop tube and get sheared by a rotary measure, so thrown charges wander and most serious users weigh.

Extruded, Extreme-series temperature stability. Because it is slow it works best where case capacity supports a full charge column.
