Shooters World The Patriot

A general-purpose spherical rifle powder for the AR-15 and AR-10 cartridge families, offered as a like-for-like alternative to H335 with flash suppression added.

Offered as a like-for-like H335 alternative for the AR-pattern cartridge families with flash suppressant added, covering the usual list - .223 Remington and 5.56mm NATO, .308 Winchester and 7.62mm NATO, .22-250, 6mm ARC, 6.5 Grendel. No Lovex D-number: US retail listings carry it as 'The Patriot Rifle S321', which points at Somchem bulk propellant, though that is a retailer's label rather than a Shooters World statement. Data comes from the Shooters World portal and the user record is thin.

Grain shape

Spherical and free-flowing through a volumetric loader, which is the practical reason to substitute it for H335 rather than for an extruded powder. Degressive - energy out early - with a web thickness that lands it right in the H335 band.

Why geometry decides burn rate more than chemistry does: Shape Is the Product.

Not a Lovex D-number product. US retail listings carry it as 'The Patriot Rifle S321', pointing to Somchem (Rheinmetall Denel Munition, South Africa) bulk propellant S321 in Shooters World canister form - treat that sourcing as a retail-label attribution rather than a Shooters World statement. Flows well through volumetric loaders. Shooters World's own SAAMI-standard load data is published through its data portal.

This powder is obscure enough in the US that its practical character is thinly documented. The note above is deliberately short rather than padded.

Sources

The specifications above come from Shooters World's own published documentation, linked below. The two “RCM's read” sections are ours, not theirs — our assessment of what this powder is like to load, drawn from its published characteristics and from what handloaders consistently report. No manufacturer endorses them and no source below backs them. If you think we have one wrong, tell us — we would rather fix it.
