Nobel Sport Vectan A1
A versatile medium-fast flake, used for 12-gauge target loads and light high-velocity field loads and, in Europe, across a range of handgun cartridges.
A medium-fast single-base flake, identifiable by its light-green colour, used for 12-gauge target and light high-velocity field loads and, in Europe, across a spread of handgun cartridges. Shooters World lines it up with N330, Unique, Green Dot and Universal, which is a useful way to place it in your head. For a US loader the practical character is the channel: Vectan is French Nobel Sport propellant and Shooters World is the sole US distributor and data publisher, so both the supply and the load data hang on one importer.
- 12-gauge target loads
- light 12-gauge field loads
- 9mm Luger
- 45 ACP

Grain shape
Flake, and therefore degressive - the whole plate surface is exposed at ignition, so gas comes off fast and early and an overcharge escalates rather than merely runs hot. Flakes bulk high and drop acceptably through a shotshell bushing but bridge more than a ball powder in a pistol measure.
Why geometry decides burn rate more than chemistry does: Shape Is the Product.
Identified by light-green flakes. Compared by Shooters World to Vihtavuori N330, Alliant Unique, Green Dot and Hodgdon Universal. Vectan is French-made Nobel Sport propellant; Shooters World is the current US distributor and publishes the US load data.
This powder is obscure enough in the US that its practical character is thinly documented. The note above is deliberately short rather than padded.
Sources
The specifications above come from Nobel Sport Vectan's own published documentation, linked below. The two “RCM's read” sections are ours, not theirs — our assessment of what this powder is like to load, drawn from its published characteristics and from what handloaders consistently report. No manufacturer endorses them and no source below backs them. If you think we have one wrong, tell us — we would rather fix it.
