Shooters World Shotshell

Shooters World Sparta 100

A fast, low-density disc propellant for light shotshell target loads and some handgun applications.

Lovex D013-01, a very fast, low-density disc powder for light 12-gauge target loads and some handgun work. The practical character here is availability rather than ballistics: it is still in the Lovex cross-reference table but off the current Shooters World products page, and the US shotshell offering has largely shifted to the Vectan line. Verify with a dealer before planning around it.

Grain shape

Disc-shaped flake, so steeply degressive - the whole surface is exposed at ignition and the gas comes off immediately, which suits a light shot charge and punishes an overcharge. Low bulk density fills a shotshell bushing well but bridges more than a ball powder in a pistol measure.

Why geometry decides burn rate more than chemistry does: Shape Is the Product.

Lovex equivalent D013-01. Still listed in the Shooters World Lovex cross-reference table but not on the current Shooters World products page, and Shooters World's US shotshell offering has largely shifted to the Vectan line - treat availability as intermittent and verify with a dealer. Shooters World deliberately keeps the Lovex designation on the label so European Lovex data and US SAAMI data can be cross-referenced; the name-to-number table is published on the Shooters World Lovex reloading-guide page.

Burn rate

Very fast - at the quick end of the shotshell and target-pistol range.

Chart agreement: consistent across the charts that list it; carried by only 2 of the charts consulted Ranked by: Shooters World, Wolfe/LoadData.

Powders charted near it — neighbours on the chart are not substitutes, and adjacency tells you nothing about what charge either one takes:

This powder is obscure enough in the US that its practical character is thinly documented. The note above is deliberately short rather than padded.

Sources

The specifications above come from Shooters World's own published documentation, linked below. The two “RCM's read” sections are ours, not theirs — our assessment of what this powder is like to load, drawn from its published characteristics and from what handloaders consistently report. No manufacturer endorses them and no source below backs them. If you think we have one wrong, tell us — we would rather fix it.
